Augusta &
Vicinity |
 |
|
Auclair Cycle & Ski is
conveniently located in the
center of Augusta, the Capitol
City of Maine. We are in close
proximity to many desirable
landmarks within the city and
capital region. |
 |
|
Augusta and the surrounding
communities offer several
desirable locations for
recreation, whether you want to
ride your bike, cross country
ski, or explore Historic
Kennebec River in a canoe or
kayak |
|
|
|
|
- Both the
Kennebec River Rail Trail
and East Coast Greenway offer
families and casual cyclists an
easy, safe, and non-threatening
place to ride bikes, x-c ski, or
walk.
|
- If you prefer a
more challenging Off-road experience
there are several superb locations
for you to explore. Summer Haven
area in North Augusta is a favorite
among the local riders.
|
- If you prefer to
stick to the roads there are many
scenic rides to choose from in the
Capital area. Let us know what you
are looking for, be it a short
casual ride or a more challenging
workout, call us and we can help you
plan a ride.
|
- The Kennebec
River is a beautiful to explore with
a kayak or canoe. You do want to
have some experience in the water if
you plan to do this, the river is
tidal and can have some challenging
currents at times.
|
- If you want to
stay active in the winter time there
are several areas where you can x-c
ski or snowshoe. One of our favorite
places is the Maine State Arboretum.
The
Abnaki Ski & Outing Club
helps to maintain these trails
year-round and has recently acquired
new grooming equipment that will be
used at the arboretum and other
locations throughout Augusta to
provide a high quality, groomed
surface for cross country skiing.
